Towards the end of a mural commission, the client told me he hated to call it a “mural” – the word wasn't grand enough. “It’s a painting!” he said. “Ah,” I told him, “that’s because when you think “mural” you think about the play area in the dentist’s office. When I think of the word “mural” I think of the Sistine Chapel, of Diego Rivera, of Da Vinci’s “Last Supper.”
